AWS Consulting from Skypunch
Categorized as: Company News

Did you know Skypunch Technology is more than an election service provider? Indeed, the same expertise that goes into building the voting solution is also available for Amazon Web Services consulting. This is not a new announcement, and for a period of time there was a website devoted to it at skypunch.tech. That site is currently out of commission, but until it is resurrected—and all the content at electionsonline.com migrated to it—this blog post will serve as a placeholder to make sure the message is out there’s a reason Skypunch Technology is not called Skypunch Voting Services. The service offerings extend beyond just providing online voting software.
What is Amazon Web Services
If you’ve been living under a rock the past couple of decades, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud computing platform widely regarded as the world’s best. It is the technology infrastructure which powers the Skypunch voting solution, but also many of the world’s most recognizable brands—starting with that of its parent company, Amazon.
Services Offered
Providing consulting services focused on AWS means helping organizations:
- Transition their IT infrastructure from some legacy environment into AWS
Organizations in legacy data centers, or perhaps even another cloud provider may be looking either to be coached through the process, or have the migration done for them. - Audit and optimize an existing AWS environment
Audit and optimize can mean different things for different clients ranging from optimizing for performance, scalability, durability, or security. But will most typically involve some balance of all the above. - Recognize the value of cloud computing
Perhaps a client is only now considering a migration into a cloud environment, but needs assistance making the case to management why the investment will be worth it. - Anything else that has to do with AWS.
The Qualifications
Skypunch is really a network of developers and architects that have done consulting work in one form or another their entire careers, and picked up certification from AWS along the way. Yours truly for example is certified as an: AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator and AWS Security Specialist. Sometimes the best person for a consulting role may not be certified by AWS at all, but would still be brought in if needed and under the supervision of someone who is so that clients get both someone who has the necessary experience and expertise in a specialized area, plus someone who’s ensuring AWS best practices are followed.
Scope of Comfort
If an organization is looking to engage a large team of developers, full-time on a years-long project, Skypunch is not who it should hire. Given the commitment to the voting solution, Skypunch is better positioned to service smaller scale, shorter-term engagements. Sectors include government, non-profit , or corporate as experience spans all the above and more.
So if you’re looking for a consultant to augment your existing IT staff and help you get through some specific, short-term projects without charging the New York-, DC- or San Francisco-type hourly rate, reach out to Skypunch and let’s talk.
